FAQs

DOES NOUVEAU LASHES TEST ON ANIMALS?

No. Nouveau Lashes is proudly a cruelty free brand. Most products and treatments are also vegan however the LVL treatment is NOT vegan as it contains lanolin and hydrolysed collagen.

PERMANENT MAKEUP

WHY SHOULD I HAVE MICRO-PIGMENTATION?

Micro-pigmentation is a revolutionary beauty treatment used to enhance eyes, brows and lips to give a natural finish that imitates perfectly applied makeup. Some of the main reasons to have treatment are to fill in sparse eyebrows, define lip line and add a natural tint or cancel out ashiness in darker lips, save time applying makeup, if you have makeup allergies, if you have hair loss, not confident in applying makeup and ultimately to boost self confidence!

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

Firstly, Ashley will complete a consultation on you which can take between 30mins to 1 hour. This will involves going through all pre procedure forms which will be sent out to you in the post prior to treatment, conducting a skin analysis, choosing pigment colours, pre procedure photographs and pre drawing of your desired look using makeup. During the consultation, Ashley will ensure that you are 100% happy with the pigment colour choice and final pre drawing. She will be able to give her professional opinion on what she thinks will best suit you however only until you are happy with the final pre draw will treatment commence. The treatment itself involves using a very fine sterile needle to insert pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.

DOES IT HURT?

Topical numbing agent is used prior and during all PMU procedures to minimise discomfort of all procedures. Ashley always communicates with her clients during the treatment and can adjust numbing as necessary as each client’s pain thresholds vary

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

This varies from person to person and is dependent on a number of different factors such as sun exposure, skincare regime, diet and genetics. All these factors contribute to how long the pigment will remain in the skin but typically you can expect it to last between 1-3 years with the pigment gradually fading over this time. However, a 10-12 month top up is recommended to keep the colour looking its best

CAN I GO STRAIGHT BACK TO WORK?

Absolutely! The procedure site may be slightly red and you may experience minor swelling but that will subside within 24 hours. Cold compress may be used if necessary. Your chosen colour will be darker and more sharply defined immediately after your treatment and in the next 2 weeks will fade around 30% to reveal your true colour.

DERMAPLANING

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER AND FASTER?

No! We are only removing vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the surface of the skin, not from the root. You can expect your hair to grow back at the same rate and thickness as usual.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?

Initial benefits from Dermaplane treatments are immediately apparent. However, optimal results require regular maintenance treatments. It takes many years for your skin to lose its vitality, so it takes time to regenerate new cells.

DOES IT HURT?

Not at all. The process does not require any topical anaesthesia or painkillers.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive treatment with low risk of complications and is one of the safest skin rejuvenation procedures available. Some patients report redness or dry feeling in their skin after a treatment, but this is temporary. Typical care following your treatment includes the use of moisturisers and sunscreen and avoiding sun exposure for a few days.

WHEN CAN I RESUME NORMAL ACTIVITIES/WEAR MAKEUP?

Straight away! This is the ultimate “lunch hour” procedure, and most people return to their normal activities immediately. Lipstick & eye makeup can be applied straight after the treatment, however we recommend that foundation, blusher, bronzer or anything that is applied directly onto the treated area is not used for 12-24 hours.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REGULAR DERMAPLANE TREATMENTS?

Regular use of Dermaplane treatments can improve or eliminate superficial skin problems. It works on all skin types to create a more even skin tone. However, it is not effective for problems such as stretch marks, keloids, reducing wrinkles, or deep acne scarring. Microneedling and The Million Dollar Facial will help with these skin concerns.

CAN I COMBINE MY DERMAPLANE WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Absolutely! Dermaplaning is a key component of The Million Dollar Facial. By removing the outermost layer of the epidermis, this allows the following rejuvenating treatments to have a deeper and more long-lasting effect.

CAN I HAVE DERMAPLANING WHILE PREGNANT?

Yes! There is no risk of products entering the blood stream so it’s a perfect treatment to have while you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. It is a safe and effective way to treat hormonal breakouts that you may experience during pregnancy. However, you cannot have a Microneedling treatment or Million Dollar Facial.

HOW OFTEN CAN I HAVE DERMAPLANING?

You can safely repeat the procedure every 4-6 weeks and the benefits of your treatment will be enhanced by regular sessions.

MICRONEEDLING

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

Microneedling involves tiny punctures to the skin, so depending on your pain threshold, it is more uncomfortable than painful.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

If you look in the mirror after your treatment and find that your face is pink, don’t panic. It’s normal for your skin to be pink following a Microneedling treatment. Using a good moisturiser with SPF30+ to keep your skin hydrated will help minimise the pinkness.

BRUISING AND SWELLING?

Be aware that the roller used around your eyes may cause some slight bruising. It’s nothing to be worried about, and the bruising is usually faint enough to be covered up with makeup. Some people may also experience some mild swelling after Microneedling.

HOW LONG WILL THE SWELLING LAST?

The inflammatory effect of Microneedling is short. Within just 12-24 hours, your skin should fade and the swelling should go down, though you may experience some sensitivity for up to 48 hours. Wash skin with a gentle cleanser and cool water, and pat dry with your hands. If you received a more aggressive treatment, the pinkness may stay a little longer.

ROUGH SKIN AND VISIBLE MARKS?

You may get a few lumps and bumps but this is totally normal as your skin has been through an elective trauma. After your procedure, your skin will feel and look different. It might feel rough to the touch for a few days, and you may notice some slight visible marks on your skin. Both of these effects are caused by the micro-injuries created by the punctures. As your skin heals, these marks will soon fade and your skin will become smoother than it was before.

CAN I TAKE IBUPROFEN FOR ANY DISCOMFORT?

Microneedling relies on your body’s natural inflammatory process to stimulate cell regeneration, so it is highly recommended that you stay away from anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen. These medications will interfere with your body’s recovery process and affect your results. Use a cool compress to soothe any discomfort or swelling.

IS PEELING NORMAL?

Peeling is a normal and important part of the Microneedling healing process, caused by the increased cell turnover. You can expect peeling to start within 3-5 days after your appointment. It is very important that you moisturise at least twice a day and don’t pick at or scratch your skin. Keep it well moisturised to minimise itching that might encourage scratching.

HOW OFTEN CAN I HAVE THE TREATMENT?

You can safely repeat the procedure every 4-6 weeks and the benefits of your treatment will be enhanced by regular sessions.

PEELS

WILL MY SKIN FLAKE AFTER A PEEL?

No, there may be some slight tenderness after a peel however we use superficial peels with no downtime.
